THE owner of a boat intended to help disadvantaged youngsters learn valuable life skills has made a desperate plea for funding.

Karen Passmore, right, used her life savings to buy the Lief but has a real fear that the 40ft yacht will never realise the goal she imagined for it.

On the 14th November the Evening Post came down to Leif to film for the Gold Star Awards on the 16th December.
This was the first time the boat has had both sails out at the same time and short tacking in Bristol Docks proved challenging, but encouraging for her sailing ability. The film will be available shortly. Photos of the day are in the photo section.

BOAT LAUNCHED!!

Today 'Lief' was launched at Bristol Marina by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Bristol. 'Lief' is now at the second stage of her refit, so there is still a lot to do. We have produced a wish list (viewable from the supporters section of the website) showing what we need to complete the boat ready for the MCA (Marine And Coast Guard) commercial coding.

We would like to thank Bristol City Council for the generous donation of a Mooring on Hanover Quay to allow the completion of the refit. Once complete 'Lief' will move to her new home at Portishead Quay Marina, where we hope to commence operation in 2012.
